Surrender is a Godly thing. Lyle Lovett said, "God will, but I won't. And that's the difference between God and me." Actually, that's the difference between God and ego. It is God in you that would surrender, because God is always already surrendered: surrendered in love and rightness, surrendered to the needs of all God's children.
The ego cannot truly surrender. It can give up, it can be coerced; you can hold an ego driven person at gunpoint, and make them do what you want. But none of that is true, Godly surrender. When you truly surrender, it is God in you surrendering to God. Thus, it is God in you that liberates you from the unsurrendered life of ego.
Furthermore: When your will is aligned with God's, you are surrendered. You have submitted to a Divine way that is all about ongoing surrender. You've boarded a boat that is surrender, because God is always surrendered. God's way is an ongoing love-will, an ongoing "yes" to life, yes to helping, yes to serving, yes to caring, yes to compassion, yes to healing. Yes, yes, yes. I will, I will, I will. When you submit to God, you submit to that way -- the surrendered way.
Such is the connection between God and Surrender & Will.
